Burke Bros supports Aberdovey Charity Bike Ride 2019

Jun 27, 2019
Burke Bros Moving Group was pleased to again be the official logistics provider for the annual Wolverhampton to Aberdovey, Wales, Charity Bike Ride held on 21 June.

The Midlands-based company supplied both storage and transport for more than 700 riders and West Midlands Police G division for the 105-mile charity bike ride from the city of Wolverhampton in the West Midlands to the Welsh seaside town of Aberdovey.

Burke Bros Moving Group’s Managing Director, Gary Burke, also entered the event and chose to fundraise for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.  Along with support from fellow international movers, he has raised funds for the charity to help them develop new and improved approaches to treating some of the sickest children in the UK.

Several Burke Bros vehicles were required at the event to transfer luggage and belongings to Aberdovey in Wales and then return hundreds of bikes back to the Midlands.  The bikes were then safely held and re-distributed from the company’s bonded stores at the end of the event.

Gary Burke taking part in the Wolverhampton to Aberdovey Charity Bike RideEvent organiser, Greg Evans said, “I have used Burke Bros for some years now to assist in moving and storing hundreds of road bikes used in the annual Wolverhampton – Aberdovey Charity Bike Ride. Each year the event gets bigger, and each year staff at Burke Bros deliver to the highest standards. The planning before the event is seamless, and the efficiency shown on ride day is second to none, as they load hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of bikes for transportation back to Wolverhampton. To organise such an event is a huge task, however when we work with professionals such as those at Burke Bros it makes that task so much easier.”

Last year, the fundraising event raised £184,130 to support a number of varied charities.  Organisers are hoping to achieve a final amount of £200,000 from this year’s event to support a number of local charities.

Gary Burke, Managing Director, added, “It was an enjoyable weekend both as a participant and as logistics provider.  It’s a large-scale event and is meticulously well organised by the event organisers.  It was also great to be able to enter the event and ride on behalf of Birmingham Children’s Hospital with support from our fellow international movers.  We’re already looking forward to next year!”
