Arpin Middle East and DASA International Movers joined forces to support the Ramadan Sharing Fridges initiative at the Octane Car Service Centre in Al Quoz, Dubai.

Volunteers from the two companies donated 500 food packs and 200 hygiene packs and helped hand them out to the labourers in the area who queue up every day during Ramadan to receive meals to break their religious fast.Arpin Middle East volunteers in Dubai

Lauren Inglis, Regional Director of Arpin International Group Middle East said, “This is a small token of appreciation for these labourers who build and maintain the beautiful buildings and landscapes of Dubai we all enjoy and have the luxury of living and working in.”

This particular fridge, managed by Pam and Shak Shakil of Octane Car Service Centre, is only one of three in the most populated industrial areas in Dubai and feeds over 500 people a day. The labourers, who are working in 45-degree heat while fasting, were grateful to receive these packs to break their fast at 7pm.

Australian expat, Sumayyah Sayed, started the initiative in 2016 when she put a refrigerator stocked with food and water on her front porch to serve the less fortunate labourers during Ramadan. Within two years, her act of generosity had blossomed into a community movement. Today, Ramadan Sharing Fridges has 170 refrigerators and support from over 27,000 members who have joined the campaign through Facebook.
