Dutch-based moving company Mondial Vogel Removals has recently moved a model of the battlecruiser HMS Hood from Holland to a new home in Glasgow, Scotland.

The scale model of the warship was part of an exhibition at the Polderhuis Museum in Middleburg, Holland where it had been displayed for the past ten years. However, the ship had to be moved to make room for another exhibition.

As the model is almost three metres long, it could not be moved using the elevator and had to be carried via the stairs: a great challenge for the movers.

The model ship is now on show at the Hood Association not far from where the original 262- metre-long ship was built by John Brown & Company between 1916 and 1918.

The Hood was sunk by the German battleship Bismarck during the battle of Denmark Strait in May 1941.  Of the 1419 men on board, only three survived.
