buzzmove helps 54 homeless people at Christmas

Last December buzzmove raised £1,410 for Crisis - the UK national charity for single homeless people - smashing their initial target of £1,000.

The donation helped provide shelter, food, clothing and support for 54 homeless people over the Christmas period.  buzzmove donated £5 for every home contents video survey completed by partner removal companies in the first three weeks of December.  The buzzmove team also made their own donations to help boost the total.

Isabella Hernandez and Colin Martinho from buzzmove volunteered at the South London Day Centre in Bermondsey on Christmas Eve, helping to take orders and serve meals to the centre’s guests.

Isabella said, “Working at the Crisis centre gave us a real appreciation of the level of support offered by Crisis to the homeless people we met. It was really humbling and also made us realise how easy it can be to find yourself homeless. This was the first year that the people being looked after by Crisis were served their meals at a table rather than needing to queue up – a new idea from Crisis to help their guests actually feel like guests."

Becky Downing, CEO and founder of buzzmove said, “Our business helps people move home and look after their possessions so helping those without a roof over their heads at Christmas was a no-brainer.  We are so grateful for the support of our partner removal firms and hope we made a small but important difference this Christmas to those needing the care of Crisis.”
