Burke Bros Moving Group was pleased to sponsor this year’s annual Aberdovey Wales Charity Bike Ride.
The Wolverhampton-based removal and storage company was official logistics provider for the 2018 event, supplying both storage and transport for more than 700 riders and West Midlands Police G Division.
Several Burke Bros vehicles were required at the event to transfer luggage and belongings to Aberdovey and then return hundreds of bikes back to the Midlands. The bikes were then held free of charge in Burke Bros’ bonded stores before being re-distributed at the end of the weekend’s fundraising event. All signage and equipment required for the 105-mile route was also safely stored in the Burke Bros depositories.
Organiser of the event, Greg Evans commented, “The Aberdovey bike ride is an annual event which has raised over one million pounds for local charities. It takes a great deal of organisation and is different to normal cycling events, which tend to start and finish in the same place. We require the movement of hundreds of bikes, many of which are very expensive and the pride and joy of their owners. The service Burke Bros provides is second to none, they are meticulous in their planning, excellent customer care and on the day provided a service to all organisers and riders, which made the day run smoothly and professionally.”
Last year, the fundraising event raised over £161,000 to support a number of charities. This year’s event has raised £107,000 in aid of 14 local charities and the figure is still rising.
Gary Burke, Managing Director said, “It was a great weekend and a sterling effort by all who rode and all who volunteered and organised the charity fundraising event. We were glad Burke Bros could be of service to such a key local event. We hope this year’s fundraising is even more successful and exceeds last year’s total.”
