Steve Jordan reports on the UK moving industry’s only independent annual exhibition.
The Movers and Storers Show took place at its adopted home in Stoneleigh, Warwickshire in November. The show was attended by just over 1000 visitors over the two days, which is a 9% increase on the previous year. 70% of attendees were from the removals and storage sector with a further 10% from self storage. Almost 80% were decision makers or influencers in buying decisions for their organisations.
As well as the exhibition booths, the show included the Packer of the Year competition in which packing crews from moving companies tried their hand at packing packages into a storage container, against the clock. Points were awards for speed and for their skill in getting everything to fit. Not an easy task. Easy Shipping from London won the challenge for the fifth consecutive year. They clearly have the knack. Will anyone be able to beat them this year?
