Crate hire company Pluscrates has installed the latest Samsara dual facing dash cam technology across its entire fleet to provide video evidence of vehicle journeys and protect both the company and its drivers from fraudulent cash-for-cash claims.
Pluscrates has been using satellite tracking and telematics for some time but says the new dash cameras will provide additional evidence to fight spurious insurance claims.
National Operations Manager at Pluscrates Stuart Stansfield said, “Using a satellite tracking report we successfully dealt with a spurious allegation that one of our vehicles collided with a parked car in a narrow London street. Our vehicle was in Southampton at the time!”
“That experience prompted us to trial a range of dash cameras. We quickly established that if they were to provide us with the level of protection we were looking for, we needed kit that was hands off, smart and automated. Samsara ticked all the boxes for us.”
Pluscrates said the Samsara system was simple to install and links with digital tachograph units to provide a full suite of telemetric driver and vehicle reports with 4G connection to the cloud for secure video storage and ‘harsh event’ alerts with video clips.
The installation was completed in January following an extensive three-month trial.
