Richard Dolan from Simply Store recently spoke at the EUROMOVERS conference in Copenhagen promoting his Simply Store franchise and recruiting franchisees for a business that he expects will retrieve at least some of the storage business that was taken from the removals companies by self store.
The Simply Store principle is to charge a minimum storage period for storing items, rather than storing by the room or by volume. Richard also does not charge separately for collection or deliver. The model relies on all business coming from a local area, within 10km of the depot, so that it can be collected and delivered by staff using vehicles that are temporarily available. “For a local delivery or collection it is likely that you will always have spare capacity within very short notice, using resources that you already have,” he said, adding: “It’s only us that think it’s expensive to store goods. It’s not necessarily what the customer thinks. What they want is good value.”
Richard also believes that there is an opportunity with corporate businesses with offices requiring short-term storage for events. Again, this would be work that would fit well with the removals business and provide extra revenue from existing resources. For more information contact Richard on Richard@greensremovals.com.
