Members and affiliates of UK-based Your Moving Group (formally U Move Group) gathered in Sheffield on 13 May for the Group’s national meeting.

The event, which was sponsored by insurance specialist Basil Fry & Co, was attended by members from across the UK.

Your Moving Group Director Andy Pearson welcomed everyone to the meeting before handing over to Co-Director Mark Ratcliffe who gave a brief history of the Group, including its rebranding last November.  The Group now comprises three sub-groups; UK Moving Group, Professional Man and Van Group and the MGA (Moving Group Academy).

Andy Pearson went through a list of member benefits as the directors of the Group saw them. He then opened a discussion on what customers may see as the benefits of using a Your Moving Group member. Key points highlighted were the use of quality materials, insurance being included, consistent top-quality service and fair pricing. Affiliate members felt they benefited by increased brand awareness amongst Group members. Mark and Andy explained that they would soon be going out visiting members to provide help where needed, and also added that they are always happy to help remotely too, encouraging members to just pick up the phone and ask.

There was long discussion about pricing and not reducing rates to an unsustainable level. Several members commented that even during quiet periods, discounts are not a good idea as it often results in a loss being made on the job.

Lots of lively discussion followed about the need for diversification such as shredding, archive storage, waste disposal, trade services and commercial moves.

After a productive day, Andy and Mark thanked everyone for their participation and attendance at the meeting.
