It was a fine evening of entertainment at the Gala Dinner of the BAR conference (British Association of Removers) in May. The gentlemen were dressed formally, some squeezing into suits that hadn’t seen much daylight since the previous year, and the ladies were elegant as always.
The food was delicious and the entertainment, well, entertaining - but all was a side show. What people really wanted to know was who had won the much-admired Mover of the Year awards. For many, their hair could not really be let down until they knew – win or lose. The tension built.
They had to bide their time but, as the laughter from Zoe Lyons’ (comedian) last joke subsided and the dessert plates were cleared, the announcements were made. The looks of surprise were genuine, and the applause warm as the winning groups made their way to the stage for the obligatory photo. Well deserved accolades for all. Hard work, experience, and skill repaid.
The winners were:
Domestic Mover of the Year: Alexanders Removals & Storage of London
Commercial Mover of the Year: Universal Commercial Relocation of Greenford
Overseas Mover of the Year: Bournes of Rye in East Sussex
