John Mason International has announced that it has become one of the first companies in the UK to receive approval from UK Border Force as a new External Temporary Storage Facility (ETSF). This was achieved on 30 April, 2019 just before the 1 May deadline set by the authorities..
This now enables John Mason International to move groupage containers directly to its warehouse(s) under temporary storage regulations without having to hold the containers at the port until all clients’ goods are cleared.
One of the main issues, that prevents clearance at the port, is the lack of ToR (Transfer of Residence) with the client not being able to supply the URN (Unique Reference Number).
Brian commented that having ETSF approval reduces the risk of having containers held at the port, incurring charges, due to incomplete paperwork. Of course, there may be storage charges for any individual who does not have ToR but those holding fees will be charged at John Mason’s weekly rates rather than the shipping lines’ daily container holding rates, and only to the clients affected. Clients not affected will not be held up due to other clients’ lack of paperwork.
