This month we’re celebrating here at The Mover. We can hardly believe it, but this is our tenth anniversary edition and we’re tickled pink that what started as something of an experiment and a huge commercial risk, has grown into what is arguably the most popular magazine in our industry.
Our aim was to produce a truly independent magazine for the international moving, relocation and storage industries; a magazine that had no allegiances to any organisation or trade body and was not constrained by company politics or membership rules. Ten years on we believe The Mover is the only industry publication in the world that can make that claim.
We think that’s important because it means our pages are open to everyone as an advertising medium and our editors can report candidly on industry news and events without the need to ‘toe the party line’. We say it like it is, good or bad, even though sometimes we ruffle a few feathers.
Over the last ten years we’ve attended and reported on almost every major conference in the world, from Bangkok to San Diego, and our editor Steve Jordan has interviewed and photographed dozens of remarkable people, from industry legends to new-generation disruptors who may well become the entrepreneurs and thought leaders of tomorrow.
In May 2019 The Mover switched from being a printed magazine to an online format using the latest electronic publishing technology. Later that year we added iOS and Android apps and in 2020 we launched a new website so that we could publish breaking news stories as they happen. The site has a super-fast search facility so readers can instantly scan our ten-year archive for industry information and previously published articles. Every word we’ve ever written is in there.
None of this would have been possible without the support of our advertisers and those who have contributed their expert opinions, stories and news to our pages. We would like to thank everyone who has helped us make The Mover the success it is today and we’ll raise a glass to you all as we celebrate our tenth birthday.
