As UK-based PAIMA member, Burke Bros Moving Group, approaches its 40-year milestone, the company has made a commitment to reduce its emissions and is taking action to halve its greenhouse gases before 2030.
It has also committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and to regularly report on progress towards these aims.
The company has made a pledge to the SME Climate Commitment - recognised by the United Nations ‘Race to Zero’ campaign - to take action against the threat that climate change poses to the environment, society and the economy.
Burke Bros is also supporting the SME Climate Hub, an initiative founded by the International Chamber of Commerce, the Exponential Roadmap Initiative, the We Mean Business coalition and the UNFCCC Race to Zero campaign, with the aim of supporting small and medium-sized businesses to build business resilience.
In a further move, the West Midlands company has joined ‘Turning the Black Country Green’, an organisation dedicated to decarbonising businesses in its local area.
Gary Burke, Managing Director commented, “It’s time to look at our company through a different lens, take responsibility for our organisational carbon footprint and start making changes to play our role in both the local area and on a global level and also to lead the way in future-proofing the moving industry.”
