A team of removals operatives from Burke Bros Moving Group recently headed for Wales to climb Mount Snowdon and raise funds for Compton Care, a hospice close to the company’s headquarters in Wolverhampton.
At 1,085 metres (3,560 feet) at its peak, Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales, dominating the skyline and making for a challenging hike, with little shelter from the elements. The removal team completed the climb in around five hours.
Despite all doing physically demanding roles at Burke Bros, the climb is still a test of endurance even for the fittest hikers. Reflecting on the magnitude of the climb and supporting a good cause, Removal Operative Mathew Bishton commented, “I’ve never felt so tired but so happy all at the same time!” Apparently, a steady supply of samosas had been very effective in keeping energy levels high.
Transport Manager Selina Tolley added, “Every credit to our drivers and porters for taking it upon themselves to complete this challenge, organising and completing it in their own time and for a good cause. It really is a testament to good teamwork and heartening that they opted to fundraise for a cause that Burke Bros works closely with.”
Compton Care is a charity providing care and support to those who have a complex diagnosis or an incurable condition. They allow people to live the best life possible when they are really struggling.
