While there are many prestigious conferences for managers and top executives in the moving industry, the calendar is to say the least sparse when it comes to events for the men and women working on the frontline: the packers.
Hugo van Bastelare, Account Manager for One-Group member De Haan, thought it was time for a change and with the help of other Group members put together a fun event to bring people together and at the same time test their skills.
The Packing Cup was held at the long-established De Haan company’s premises in the Netherlands on 12-13 May and comprised different elements of the packer’s art, all of which are part of the daily activities of a professional mover.
Participating teams for were Asya International Movers, Turkey; De Haan, Netherlands; Euromove, Hungary; Keller Swiss Group, Switzerland; and Robinsons, United Kingdom. All contestants were judged on packing quality and speed, being two components that go hand in hand with a good moving company. Amongst fierce competition, Turkey’s Asya International Movers was congratulated as the winner of this first One-Group Packing Cup.
After presenting the trophy, Wim De Haan (8th generation De Haan) and Linda Rovekamp, Global Manager Household Moves at De Haan, pledged to continue the new tradition in 2023.
The One-Group was founded in 2002 and is based in Basel, Switzerland. The Group currently has 12 partners strategically located in the 46 major cities in Europe.
