PAIMA member Burke Bros Moving Group was one of the final nominees for the Black Country Chamber of Commerce ‘Family Business of the Year’ award 2022.
The glittering presentation evening was held at Wolverhampton Holiday Inn, Dunstall Racecourse on 14 October and attended by over 500 guests.
Burke Bros was the only removals and storage company among the nominees, narrowly missing out on the win to a local third-generation engineering company.
As Gary Burke, Managing Director explained, “As a service company it is always quite difficult to compete in the industrial heart of the UK against companies with multiple generations and history coming from the heart and birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. We’ve won the ‘Service Provider of the Year’ award in previous years but appreciate that we can’t win everything. We were pleased to have this recognition, particularly in our 40th year and to be in the shortlist for one of the main three business awards for 2022.”
The evening saw the great and the good of the Black Country’s business world collecting awards during the four-hour presentation.
The ‘Family Business of the Year’ award category was open to applicants where the business is actively managed by members of the family. Finalists have to demonstrate how the business has grown, plans for the future and how the values of the family contribute to the business’ success.
