Bournes receives EcoVadis Silver Medal for Sustainability

Bournes in the UK has announced that it has received the EcoVadis Silver Medal for Sustainability Performance in providing Moving and Relocation Services.

EcovadisThe company says that it has put sustainability at the core of its strategy. The company holds the ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Health and Safety) quality Standards and says it is committed to adopting more sustainable business strategies throughout the company and through its relationships with its supply chain and partner network. “We are working hard to keep taking small steps to make sustainability part of our culture, to integrate sustainability into our daily actions and embrace meaningful change,” explained Managing Director, Wesley Bourne.

EcoVadis claims to be the world's largest and most trusted independent provider of business sustainability ratings with over 100,000+ rated companies globally. The EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment evaluates environmental, social and ethical performance using a methodology aligned with international standards with data points customised to the moving industry and verified by leading sustainability analysts. 

"It is important to all of us at Bournes that our actions are transparent and honest,” said Wesley.  “No ‘greenwashing’. We believe that sustainability in an industry like ours with extensive supply chains is incredibly complex, and we want to make sure that we take the time to make the right decisions for meaningful change. We are in the early stages of our sustainability journey at Bournes, but I am proud of our achievements so far. It is especially positive to see how my team across the organisation has committed to meaningful change and begun to embed our priority UN Sustainable Development Goals into their decision making and daily actions."

He added: “The EcoVadis assessment not only allows us to measure and report on our current ratings but also benchmarks performance and provides customised recommendations to help us continuously improve.” 

Bournes has also been shortlisted for two Expatriate Management & Mobility Awards (EMMAs) in the categories: International Removals Company of the Year and Best Global Mobility Sustainability Initiative of the Year. The presentation ceremony is planned for 31 October and 1 November at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
