The Movers and Storers Show, the UK’s largest exhibition for the removals and storage industry, took place on 2 and 3 November at the Stoneleigh exhibition and conference centre in Warwickshire.
After the cancellation of last year’s show due to COVID, this was the first opportunity for members of the industry to network face-to-face and to meet suppliers from a wide range of sectors, including vehicle manufacturers, insurance specialists, packaging companies, membership groups and storage experts, with over 40 exhibitors from both the UK and Europe taking part.
Over the two days around 1000 industry professionals visited the show, which as usual was free to enter for pre-registered attendees.
As well as the trade stands there was plenty more to interest visitors, including demonstrations by BAR Training, which included how to safely move a grand piano and how to pack a long-case clock. The ever-popular packing competition, where teams compete to fill a container with an assortment of sometimes odd-shaped items against the clock, attracted a lot of attention. Amazingly the contest was won for the third time running by a two-man team from Easyshipping in Mitcham, Kanagasingam Sathyasothy and Nissar Tharzhe Veettil: very well done to them.
The seminar theatre featured a full programme over the two days with expert speakers covering a diverse range of subjects, including the recruitment and training of staff, sustainability for the moving industry, the impact of Brexit and the future of self storage in the UK ...
