A tribute to Steve Lewis

Oct 05 | 2022

It was on Tuesday, 30 August that the moving industry lost a friend. Steve Lewis died, aged just 56. It is, and will always remain, a tragedy, not just for his family and those who knew him well, but for the entire industry.

Steve was a strong man, a fit man who loved rugby, especially Welsh rugby, and loved life. He was built like an oak and looked as if he could live forever.  Yet, without a moment’s notice, a heart attack took him from us, leaving many bereft and all contemplating their own fragile mortality.

Steve Lewis had made his career in the moving industry.  Though a proud Welshman he became part of the Asian moving scene, first with Andy Mak at Asian Express in Hong Kong before moving on to Santa Fe in Malaysia and then as the APAC manging director for Unigroup.  He subsequently became a consultant for Voerman in the Netherlands and started his own company, My Moving Mobility in Kuala Lumpur.

But like many people dedicated to the business, it was not only what Steve did in the industry but what he did for the industry that may be his lasting legacy ...
