It’s a commonly heard, from companies in the West, that their efforts towards improved sustainability are diminished because other countries produce most of the emissions and do not take environmental sustainability so seriously.
This may be true in some industries, but in the moving business it is clear that companies worldwide are taking significant steps to minimise their emissions, encourage their suppliers to do the same and impress their customers with their efforts.
In this article, Aakanksha Bhargava, CEO, PM Relocations in India explains some of the steps her company has taken in recent years towards greater sustainability, and her plans for the future.
Every move leaves a footprint, and at PMR, we’re committed to making that footprint as light as possible. Relocation is more than just transporting items; it’s about careful planning, mindful packing, and responsible logistics. With each box packed and kilometre-driven, there’s an environmental impact, and PMR is dedicated to minimising it by integrating sustainable practices at every step.
From eco-friendly packing materials to carbon-conscious logistics, our approach has a responsibility combined with creativity, making every move a step toward a greener planet. Our journey reflects a blend of perseverance, innovation, and continuous improvement as we ensure that our commitment to sustainability grows with each relocation.
Reducing waste with sustainable packing solutions
Our first major leap was to rethink our packing materials. Traditional packing practices often rely on single-use plastics and excessive cardboard. We’ve shifted to using blankets, reusable crates, and recyclable cartons, which not only cut down on waste but also significantly reduce the carbon footprint associated with the constant replenishment of packing materials. This shift has required us to invest in more durable, environmentally friendly materials, and our clients have responded positively, appreciating that their move contributes less waste.
Balancing efficiency with environmental responsibility
A core challenge we face is balancing between operational efficiency and environmental responsibility ...
