Steve Jordan interviews Brielle Jones about her new business: The Space Coach.
Brielle Jones spent seven years working with the lead generation company TriGlobal and, in the process, became a well-known member of the international moving community. But then, after children, she looked for an alternative occupation: a business that would give her the flexibility she needed, and use her talents to the full. That’s when she came up with The Space Coach.
The idea is to help people declutter their lives to make them simpler, more joyful and ultimately, more productive. “We help expats create spaces where they can thrive, especially when they are relocating,” she explained. “Our mission is to design sustainable, functional, and personalised interiors that boost mental wellbeing and productivity in the home or office.”
Professional Organising Services are becoming very popular. But Brielle is doing it a little differently. Yes, she works in people’s homes to reduce clutter, prior to a move, following a bereavement or when selling or downsizing. But she also provides online coaching to people who would like help, inspiration and to be kept on track throughout the process of disposing of what they perceive as treasures. This means her service is not just for local people, in the Netherlands, where she lives, and Belgium: she can help anyone moving to or from anywhere.
At the most basic level, customers can have help decluttering before their move to make their house look beautiful for the estate agents’ photographs. After discussing the ins and outs of what it means to move, Brielle can then make sure they only move items that they need, making her a gateway for qualified moving leads. At destination some customers need help or advice when setting up their new home. At the highest level, VIP customers might want their home organised in advance so they can just stroll in, with no work to do themselves.
This not only provides an additional service for movers to offer clients, it helps them provide accurate quotes because their customers know what they are taking; and gets items ready for the movers arriving so makes packing easier and quicker. All of which leads to happier customers.
Brielle said that there are three reasons why people hang on to things they don’t need ...
