According to a recent report in Seatrade Maritime News, the port of Singapore is planning to digitalise shipping documentation, such as Bills of Lading, by using Blockchain technology. This was a move predicted in The Mover two years ago (see The Mover, July 2017).

The report says that the port has successfully trialled the use of the technology to issue electronic OBLs. Lam Pin Min, Singapore's Senior Minister of State for Transport and Health said: “These are significant milestones in the development of digital solutions for the sector. We must find a way for all these digital solutions and eco-systems to work together, only then can we achieve seamless digitisation of trade documentation across the board.”
