COVID-19 status for the USA supplied by Atlas VPN on 6 April, 2020

According to data acquired by Atlas VPN, COVID-19 quarantine significantly reduced the mobility of citizens in Italy, Spain, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Yet, it did not have such a tremendous impact on Americans’ mobility: with the biggest number of COVID-19 cases globally, 62% of Americans are still going to work.

The report shows that:

  • Although the US has the biggest number of coronavirus cases in the world, it is one of the latest adopters of stay-at-home recommendations: 62% of Americans are still going to work.
  • In comparison, citizens of Spain and Italy reduced their visits to public areas by around 97%. Currently, Spain is the second one in the most coronavirus-infected countries globally, while Italy is the third.
  • In most countries, people are visiting public places, such as movie theatres, restaurants, cafes, museums, 70-90% less. Yet, only 47% of Americans are visiting these places less.
  • Playing video games, social media usage, messaging, and calling increased dramatically all around the world: video game traffic increased by 102% in the US.
