One of India’s most successful moving companies, Interem Relocations, was recently featured on CNBC-TV 18’s flagship series, Incredible Journeys - Brands & Leaders.

CEO Rahul Pillai was interviewed by presenter Mridu Bhandari about how the company has grown since its formation in 1997, how it coped during the COVID-19 crisis and how he sees the business developing in the future.

Rahul began by explaining that from March to July 2020, COVID-19 restrictions in India meant that companies were not allowed to relocate their people and how Interem was able to keep its workforce safe and busy, even though household moves during lockdown were not possible.

Mridu went on to ask Rahul about the market for removals in India and what corporate customers should consider when awarding contracts in what, as she put it, is a largely disorganised industry. Having outlined what he believes are the vital questions corporates should be asking, Rahul gave examples of some of the challenges that have to be met when dealing with Fortune 500 companies.

The interview concluded with Rahul explaining how the market is changing for the relocation industry in terms of the expectations of younger clients and the long-term operational changes that are likely to take place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
