The MOBILITAS Group has acquired a 6,170m2 site in the Ugandan capital of Kampala. This is the first time the company has owned facilities in Uganda under the AGS brand since it started operating in the country in 1995
“We are proud to strengthen our ties to a country in which we have already spent so many years,” said Alain Taieb, chairman of the MOBILITAS supervisory board. “This acquisition is a sign of our commitment to our Ugandan clients and our faith in the future of Uganda.”
A two-month renovation project
Prior to occupation in October 2022, the compound’s existing buildings will undergo an extensive two-month renovation to bring them up to the quality standard that MOBILITAS clients have come to expect. Once work is complete, the premises will be surrounded by a high stone wall with two guarded entry points for 24/7 on-site security. Each warehouse will be outfitted with additional security features, including access control and CCTV, as well as fire and safety equipment in line with European standards.
The AGS removals teams will have additional storage facilities at their disposal, while the dedicated AGS records management centre will be able to house 60,000 boxes, with room to build storage for an additional 110,000 boxes in the future. The new facilities are almost double the size of the current premises.
The Ugandan facilities form part of the MOBILITAS Group’s larger strategy to further expand and strengthen its operations in Africa. New facilities are also planned for Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique and Tanzania in 2022 and 2023.
