Lars Kuepper, Managing Director of Relosmart in Hong Kong, has announced the appointment of Maximilian Schwanenberg into the company’s Dual System Professional Training programme, from the beginning of September.
Max is 18 and from Hamburg, Germany. During his 2-3 year secondment he will study every aspect of international moving, including: product knowledge, private and corporate sales, import and export procedures, operations, accountancy, office management and marketing. He will also attend a vocational school during part of every week. On completion Max will take his final exams which, if successful, will provide him with a certificate as a Transport and Logistics Management Assistant. This certificate is recognised in Germany and Germany companies around the world.
The Dual System Professional Training is an important cornerstone of the German educational system and of great importance to many businesses. With the support of the German Industry and Commerce Ltd. Hong Kong and German Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong (GCC) the system has been operating for 40 years. Trainees in the dual system typically spend part of each week at a vocational school and the other part at a company.
Germany will have 1.5 million trainees in 2024, in a variety of industries, companies and training courses. Some are overseas. “We have many German companies based here in Hong Kong,” said Lars. “The government supports this training with visa schemes. For us it’s a way of identifying and moulding talent that we hope will stay in the company, and the industry, for some time in the future. It is also a way to get recognition from the German Chamber, Embassy/Consulate and other institutions.”
