In a new initiative, FEDEMAC has declared Monday, 19 May 2025 as International Movers' Day. The day is intended as a celebration of the skills and dedication of on-road moving staff and an acknowledgement of the excellent work they do.
FEDEMAC President, Bertil Durieux, said that he wanted to tell all associations and their members about International Movers' Day and hope that they would recognise it in some way. “It’s to say that we fully recognise that the people working with us are essential, we appreciate their contribution, expertise, hard work and dedication to the industry.”
He said that moving was a small segment of the haulage sector but he wanted to give companies a way of highlighting the different between movers and hauliers. “That's why we wanted to make something different that recognised their skills and highlighted all these aspects of the profession.”
Companies will be free to recognise and celebrate International Movers' Day in any way they wish. FEDEMAC will be setting up an online platform on which companies can add their logo, comments and perhaps some information about how they recognised the day.
“It is simply an initiative to acknowledge that with every move somebody has to pack, load, transport, unload and set up people’s goods. We must not forget the people on the road and we must recognise the importance of their role.”
If you are celebrating International Movers' Day on 19 May, please send a short report and some photographs to The Mover at editor@themover.co.uk so that we can all share in the occasion and recognise the professionalism and fundamental contribution of our on-road crews.
