IAM going virtual

Jul 22 | 2020

The International Association of Movers is to run its annual conference in October completely online due to COVID-19 public health and safety concerns.

Charles WhiteIn a recent communication Charles White, President of IAM (International Association of Movers), said that the coronavirus pandemic continues to ravage many areas of the world and the United States is one of the hardest hit. “California, where IAM planned to hold this year’s conference, has recently seen a significant rise in COVID-19 cases and the governor has rolled back many initiatives planned to reopen the state. Many travel prohibitions to and from the US remain in place and visa restrictions have been extended. Under these conditions, IAM cannot guarantee the safety of our members, which is our primary concern when we hold the annual conference."

"For those reasons IAM will move its 2020 Annual Meeting to a fully virtual environment.”

He said that he will soon provide details of how the meeting will work.  IAM has partnered with a software platform called Swapcard to provide conference services that include: networking, learning, and the opportunity for suppliers to demonstrate products through virtual exhibitor booths.

“Nothing can ever replace face-to-face interactions but we have learned during the pandemic that virtual alternatives can provide incredible networking and learning opportunities from our homes or offices,” said Charles. “Give us an opportunity to show you the incredible opportunities that await you with this new and exciting form of conferencing.”

IAM will make more details available next week.
