FIDI has made the decision to cancel its planned conference in Osaka in April 2021. The event had previously been planned for April 2020 but was postponed for 12 months because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jesse van Sas, Secretary General at FIDI, said that it had become clear that organising the event in Japan so early in 2021, with the pandemic worldwide not yet receding, was impractical. FIDI has been able to recover all its prepayments to the destination management company and the hotel.
FIDI is planning a smaller event, somewhere in Europe, later in the year when, hopefully, the situation will be easier.
