Tippet Richardson offers this update on travelling to Canada amid strict COVID-19 restrictions.
Good news will travel fast. 2021 is looking like a great year for moving to Canada. Starting with immunising their citizens on December 14, 2020, Federal government is allowing 401,000 new immigrants into the country in 2021 and we see Canada as one of the top locations for immigration.
Currently Canada is open to new immigrants and returning Canadian citizens with the following travel restrictions. The Canadian government have announced new mandatory requirements for travellers to Canada as part of its efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
These mandatory requirements include all travellers to provide a quarantine plan, contact and travel information. To comply with these measures, the Government of Canada introduced ArriveCAN, through which travellers can electronically submit their details securely. ArriveCAN is available as a mobile app or by signing in online. All air, land or marine travellers are strongly encouraged to submit their information prior to their entry into Canada and show their ArriveCAN receipt to a border services officer upon entry. Travellers who do not submit the information digitally could be subject to enforcement actions such as warnings and fines.
Upon entry to Canada, within 48 hours all travellers must confirm they have arrived at their place of quarantine or complete a COVID-19 symptom self-assessment through ArriveCAN or by calling their toll free number 1-833-641-0343 on a daily basis.
