Worldwide ERC® President and CEO Lynn Shotwell issued the following statement welcoming the news that the United States and the European Union have agreed in principle on a new US-EU data flow framework.
“Global mobility professionals welcome the news that the United States and the European Union have agreed in principle on a new framework for facilitating US-EU data flows,” she said. “When corporations and their suppliers relocate employees today, they must navigate a patchwork of global and state data privacy laws that can impede global workforce mobility to the detriment of employers and the workers and families they are moving. The Framework will help US companies adhere to EU data privacy laws for their employees in the EU, thus making it easier to transfer talent to where they are needed most. We commend the United States and the EU on this new framework and encourage them to move quickly to finalise and implement it.”
