Dutch-based ScanMovers, the Dutch scale-up founded in 2017 by Maurits Koopman and Boyan Nijpels, has acquired Quot8 Holdings in Sydney for an undisclosed amount. With two acquisitions in just over 18 months, this has strengthened the company’s active global presence to over 70 countries.
“This acquisition solidifies our position as a key global player in the moving market,” said Boyan Nijpels. “At the same time demand for additional expat services has surged since Brexit and the pandemic from both our b2c and b2b customers.” The platform is adding moving-related services, such as immigration, short-stay housing, health insurance and payrolling to its offering. The latter has seen a stark increase with the popularity of remote working. “Our b2b customers underline that the war for talent has forced them to find talent in other countries. Through our platform we facilitate HR departments in everything they need for attracting and retaining top talent.”
Steven Mastwijk, founder of Quot8 and Managing Director of the company after the acquisition, points out that size matters in this business. “For innovation to be accepted by the traditional moving market, it's important to operate at a global scale. The combined synergies of both platforms and increased scope of services will make it easier to cater to the quickly changing demands in the relocation sector worldwide.”
Amsterdam-based ScanMovers is part of the Moveasy Group. The company started out as a comparison platform for movers in mostly domestic markets. Over the last few years it has morphed into a marketplace for expats and service providers to find moving (related) services worldwide. Quot8 was founded in 2014 in Australia and quickly became a leading comparison platform in the international moving industry. The success enabled the company to purchase Unileads in early 2016. In 2022, the platform helped over 150,000 customers a year and operates websites such as the-relocator.com and ship-stuff.com.
