On September 23, the Van der Ent Group marked its 100th anniversary with an event held in the company’s warehouse in Rotterdam, which had been transformed into a party room especially for the occasion.
About 220 guests, including all staff and many business associates, had a wonderful evening at the moving company’s HQ.
"I'm still reminiscing," said Director, Christiaan Van der Ent, the fourth generation to run the family business. “After the event, I received a lot of e-mails and messages from guests who thanked us for the beautiful evening. Everyone was very positive. I look back on it with a very good feeling. The respect for the beautiful and long history of the Van der Ent Group was tangible throughout the evening.”
In his speech Christiaan thanked his predecessors; father and uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. “Without their efforts I would not have been able to continue this great company,” he said.
Van der Ent had a new company film made especially for the 100th anniversary, which was screened for the first time during the party. A large coffee table book was also produced, containing interviews and many black and white photos from the company’s rich history.
“That book turned out really cool,” said Christiaan. “We have passed it on to all staff members and business associates. The great thing is that the first copy was received on stage by my 91-year-old grandmother, Jo Van der Ent. As the partner of my grandfather, she experienced how it used to be. A very different time than now. The nine months of preparation we put into it, was more than worth it.”
