To mark this year’s Australia Day - 26 January - John Mason International Movers commissioned a special piece of art to send best wishes from its base in Liverpool to its friends Down Under.
With Liverpool also being the birthplace of the Beatles, the company created a special Fab Four themed artwork, but with an Aussie twist. The image, created by Bulgarian illustrator Emiliya Bogdanova, features four of Australia’s best-known animals on the Abbey Road pedestrian crossing echoing the famous Beatles album cover of the same name.
Abbey Road was the eleventh studio album by the English rock band and was the last album the group recorded. The image has become one of the most famous and imitated in recording history and in December 2010, the crossing was given grade II listed status for its ‘cultural and historical importance’.
John Mason’s Managing Director Simon Hood explained, “We wanted to send a special message direct from Liverpool to Australia that embraced and reflected the culture of our wonderful city, but also create something Aussie. Emiliya created the image by hand, using classic tools such as pencils, inks and watercolours. Having spent six months living in Australia and seeing the animals in the wild herself she was the perfect artist for the project.”
