Peter Weltenius, the self-proclaimed mad Viking of the moving industry, has brought his business to be part of Britannia Sandersteads in Surrey.
Peter said that the death two years ago of Tony Tovesson, the owner of Barks, his contractor in Sweden, had created some challenges that required him to find an alternative option.
He said that the industry as a whole has faced many challenges lately, including increased costs, inflation, an ageing workforce and a reduced market. “I was looking for a quality company with a good reputation in the industry,” he explained. “I have had several discussions with various contractors and companies in Sweden and in the UK over the past few months. I decided to merge with Sandersteads because: I have worked with them over the past 20 years and have a lot of respect for them; they operate to a very high standard and we both believe that ‘if you can’t do a move properly, don’t do it'; and they have accepted a mad Viking with his first mate Svea (Bernese Mountain Dog) into their office.”
Peter said that he will be working for Sandersteads as hybrid on a self-employed basis so he can continue with other activities, including his weekend work as a sailing instructor.
