It’s always interesting to find out how companies came together. What was the motivation of the owners? What window of opportunity opened, however fleetingly, to allow the spark of creativity to ignite? For some it’s a slow development, maybe as a diversification from an existing business. For others it is more the chance to lean on an already ajar door to sample the prospects beyond. So it was with the recently-established, UK-based, Solaris Relocations.
The company was started post-pandemic by four experienced movers who had come to know each other while working for Crown: Andy Buckle, Nitin Bhica, John Morris and David Hollins.
David explained that the opportunity came along at the right time for him. He’d been working with Sirva in Prague when the pandemic hit. They were restructuring and he was keen to get back to the UK, so he took the opportunity to leave when it appeared. He retains a good working relationship with the company. He started his own consultancy business for a time, which was successful, then he heard the others were looking to start something new. “We came together and put rocket boosters under the project,” he explained. “Solaris Relocations was the result.”
The business scaled up rapidly, whilst retaining a high level of quality. The company invested heavily in marketing and lead generation and very quickly became well known in the industry. “Agents and UK-based partners have already started coming to us rather than us going to them,” said David.
