A preview of the UK’s only independent exhibition for the moving and storage industry, by Steve Jordan.
The Movers & Storers Show 2024 is gearing up to be the most significant event of the year for professionals in the removals and storage industry. Held over two days, 19-20 November, this year's show will bring together what the organiser believes to be the largest ever gathering of industry suppliers, service partners, and experts under one roof. The show will take place at the NAEC Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, providing attendees access to the latest innovations, products, and services that can help drive their businesses forward. Exhibitors will showcase a wide range of products, services and technologies.
That’s the official line. That’s the bit that you have seen on all the promotional material sent out by the organisers on social media over the last few months. And it’s true. But regular readers of this magazine will know that I like to take a look under the hood. I like to take a slightly more philosophical view of events such as this. Yes, you can describe them in terms of what is there, but there’s always much more to the experience than appears at first sight.
I have been to every Movers and Storers Show since it started a long time back. Yes, I have always been interested to find out what’s new. I have always learned something by chatting to the exhibitors and listening to the speakers. It’s always been valuable. I defy anyone to go along to Stoneleigh in November and not learn something they can take back to benefit their business. It’s packed with inspiration. But is that really why I go? Probably not. I think I go for the people.
It’s a weird industry, this moving game. Maybe it’s because we all rely on each other so much that we build relationships that are more than just business contacts ...
