Homeowners with charging points for electric vehicles on their driveways can now make extra cash by renting them out as parking spaces to motorists with electric vehicles (EVs).
For the first time, customers will be able to make bookings for YourParkingSpace.co.uk spaces where EV charging is available directly through Zap-Map.com, a platform for finding EV charge points.
Harrison Woods, Managing Director at YourParkingSpace.co.uk said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for driveway owners with a charge point to make some extra money as the electric revolution takes off, especially given the fact that the government is committed to banning the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in just over 20 years.”
Electric vehicle sales are increasing year-on-year with predictions there will be 200,000 EVs on the UK’s roads by the end of 2018.
According to the independent consumer advice website on electric vehicles, DrivingElectric.com, range anxiety is still the top worry for would-be EV drivers. However, with the latest EVs now able to cover up to 300 miles between charges, the average driver would only need to use a charging point once during a normal week of commuting, shopping and school runs.
