London is to introduce its new Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) on 8 April, 2019.
The ULEZ will impose a charge of £12.50 and £100 respectively for non-compliant cars and HGVs entering the central London area. The ULEZ will operate 24-hours a day within the area covered by the current congestion zone. To support micro-businesses and low-income Londoners to switch to cleaner vehicles, the Mayor has also announced a £48 million scrappage scheme.
The ULEZ area will be extended to include the whole of London within the North and South-Circular roads (A406 and A205) in October 2021.
