EuRA has postponed its conference in Seville, planned for May this year, and rebooked it at the same venue for 23-26 March 2021, that’s two months earlier than usual.

That’s no great surprise, in view of world events but, according to Tad Zurlinden, EuRA CEO, the organisation is doing a great deal more to help its members and the members of the UK’s relocation group Association of Relocation Professionals (ARP) during this current period of crisis.

One major concession EuRA has made is to provide the certificate for its MIM (Managing International Mobility) training free of charge.  The training has always been provided free to EuRA members but they had to pay for the certificate at the end of the course.  “So now, if members have staff doing nothing, they can do the MIM training, and get a certificate, free of charge,” explained Tad. “That has gone down incredibly well.” Tad said that EuRA would be introducing new programmes in the future, all of which will be free.

Of course, the COVID-19 outbreak came as a shock to everyone however, Tad pointed out that the EuRA Quality Seal, the accreditation programme for relocation providers, includes the requirement for holders to have a contingency plan in place for extraordinary circumstances. “So those companies with the EuRA Quality Seal are better prepared for any eventuality,” he said.

EuRA has taken action itself to mitigate the effects of the business downturn, not least of which has been Tad’s own sacrifice of reducing his own salary by 50% to ease the pressure.  The EuRA staff are also all working from home and their security on their computers has been upgraded to ensure that members’ data is kept safe.
