UTA Edenred, the fuel card company, has expanded the availability of HVO100 fuel (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) through its network of over 1,000 accepting fuel stations in 14 European countries: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Italy, Spain, Lithuania, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden.

HVO 100HVO100 and the HVO blends form part of UTA Edenred’s range of alternative fuels, that can be used as diesel substitutes, which have been available to customers for some time.

Lukas Schneider, Commercial Director EMEA at UTA Edenred, said: "We take an open-technology approach in which we offer whatever type of fuel our customers require. In addition to conventional fuels, we provide alternative fuels such as LNG, CNG, biodiesel and HVO as well as electric vehicle charging. That’s helping our customers transition to sustainable mobility."

HVO100 provides fleet operators with an opportunity to reduce the carbon footprint of their vehicles. The fuel is produced from industrial and agricultural fat and oil residues and can be mixed with conventional diesel in various concentrations. In its pure form, HVO100 enables a CO2 reduction of up to 90% over the fuel’s life cycle compared with fossil diesel. In principle, HVO100 can be refuelled instead of diesel; technical conversion of vehicles is not necessary. The vehicle manufacturer's approval must be checked before HVO100 is used.
