Andrew Work is the new executive director of the Self Storage Association Asia (SSAA). He was involved in its establishment in 2014 and has been the MC at its annual Expo and Conference every year across the region.
The SSAA works to grow and protect members' businesses and the industry in Asia through research, education, government advocacy, key introductions, and high-level networking opportunities. This community includes current and future facility owners, managers, suppliers, and investors.
Andrew has extensive executive experience in building successful media, content, community, ecosystem and events brands from ground zero to become globally recognised properties. He was recently the managing director, head of media, Asia and Europe at NexChange Group focussed on fintech and blockchain. He is the publisher (and until recently the editor-in-chief) of Harbour Times and High Tide focussed on Hong Kong policy issues. He created these brands as the founding CEO of New Work Media, a platform from which he is the consulting editor to Sphere, the in-house publication of the CK Hutchison Group. He is also a registered consultant to the World Bank and High Commissioner to the World Business Angel Investment Forum.
He is the longest-serving executive director of The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (2007-2012). He founded the Hong Kong economic policy think tank, The Lion Rock Institute, and remains an active Board member. He has worked for The Economist Group, Penton Media and on Parliament Hill with a senior Cabinet Minister in Ottawa. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Biology) from McGill University and an MBA from the University of Victoria.
