JK Moving Services in Virginia has hired industry veteran Davy Shanko as the company’s director of operations, residential; and Mike Murphy as director, client experience, commercial.
“We continue to grow rapidly due to multiple factors, including the ‘great migration’ spurred by the pandemic, change in work culture, and low interest rates,” explained David Cox, Executive Vice President, Residential. “Our commitment to providing customers with the best moving experience means that we have to continue adding bench strength to meet demand. Davy’s strong industry knowledge and focus on customers will help our operations keep up with demand and client expectations.”
In this role, Davy Shanko will help refine and evolve the company’s residential move operations in light of the company’s growth to ensure a smooth moving experience for JK’s clients. He joined JK from Suddath Relocation Systems where he served most recently as general manager of the company’s northern California office. Prior to Suddath, he worked in operations at Graebel Van Lines for nearly 12 years. He has an economics degree from the University of Washington.
“Mike is joining the commercial team as we increase our expertise and offerings, including expanding more into data centres and labs,” explained Jon Theiss, Vice President and General Manager, Commercial Services. “With his commercial moving background, Mike will be responsible for ensuring an outstanding client experience, guiding our corporate customers through seamless moves and helping bolster our commercial work.”
In addition to traditional office moves, JK has made investments into increasing its data centre and lab moving platforms, which are part a turnkey experience that includes office furniture installations and other technology relocation services. Mike Murphy joined JK from Able Moving and Storage where he served as vice president of commercial. Prior to Able, he was with Office Movers for many years. He is also a Marine Corps veteran.
