Glyn Thomas dies aged 78

Glyn Thomas, the founder of Avalon Overseas, a specialist military and migrant international shipping company in London, died on Sunday, 14 April 2024.

Glyn ThomasGlyn started his career in the moving industry with Neal and Wilkinson before moving to Scotpac (subsequently Crown).  He started Avalon Overseas in 1974, with Jimmy Hanna and Steve Jordan, and continued to head the company after its sale to Trans Euro in 1989.  Glyn joined John Mason International in 1997 as the company’s national sales manager. He retired from the industry approximately 20 years ago. 

Glyn died following a cancer diagnosis at the end of 2023, passing away quietly with his three children at his side.
