A planned meeting of the DP3 International Industry Provider Conference, scheduled for 19-20 November, was cancelled at short notice in an e-mail from Andy Dawson, Director, Defense Personal Property at USTRANSCOM.
The e-mail said the meeting would not take place until next year. The cancellation was announced after attendees had already committed to significant travel expenses to take part in what was seen as a crucial discussion for the future of military moves through the GHC (Global Household Goods Contract).
This has led to much online speculation about the reasons for the cancellation. It is alleged that one of the reasons cited was a ‘lack of productive dialogue’ which seems unlikely. There was also a suggestion that the decision could be related to the recent dismissal of key executives at HomeSafe. This throws doubt on whether the transition to the new contract will be completed as planned during 2025.
